Helping the Food Industry

Panks solutions have been helping to turn Norfolk and Suffolk’s muddy veg into tasty shelf-ready produce for years.

Whatever stage of the food’s journey you are involved in, we have a solution or application to guarantee maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness along the way.

From misting seedlings in protected cropping to vacuum sealing the final packaging, Panks has a pump fit for the job. From general purpose pumps to propel water through station to station transportation flumes in the pack house, to the hundreds of small specialist pumps in a steam station, our products are reliable and hard-working.

If it’s rainwater-harvesting you require to feed into field irrigation – or pressure boosted jet washers to clean your produce; we can help. Chemical dosing required for a water-treatment plant? A conduit system to float your lettuces? No problem. Whatever the issue, Panks will help you find the best possible solution.

Panks’ specialist machines and equipment can safely spray, transport, cool, chill, sanitise and sterilise your produce and recycle waste water, keeping your costs down.

Irrigation

Panks will provide the whole package, unlike many other companies, for your irrigation needs. We work direct with you to make initial site assessments of the landscape and project plan your irrigation solution. We can drill a bore-hole, connect to an existing water supply, lay all pipework and electrical cabling, install and fit the pump and pump machinery and control centre – and all at a competitive price. Panks take care of everything.

From large scale agricultural irrigation systems with big-gun sprayers to standard and drip irrigation, Panks have 170+ years’ experience of working with East Anglian farmers and horticulturists and we know how to make sure our irrigation systems maximise your particular crop’s health and growing success.

Rainwater Harvesting

If you are sitting above an aquifer you could tap into a free source of groundwater and slash your water supply costs. We know working to improve your site infrastructure, such as installing groundwater abstraction systems, can make great long-term efficiency gains.

Panks has been drilling bore-holes across Norfolk and Suffolk for over 40 years. Our detailed geological and hydrological maps of East Anglia enable specialist engineers to make accurate site assessments and identify the best spot for the drill.

Up to 19m3 or 19000 litres of water can be drawn off daily, completely free of charge. Then, let us boost your business and the water pressure, and feed bore-water directly into your irrigation or washing systems. Or, if you require, we’ll filter it via a water treatment plant to produced potable water.

Reuse Waste Water

And what about the waste water after washing down? Why not recycle grey waste water via one of our treatment plants? This reusable source of water, alongside potential rainwater harvesting, can greatly reduce your costs and improve efficiency.

Panks will install storage chambers to capture the run-off, including surface water and rainwater, if required, and feed it through a water treatment plant. We can treat it with UV filters and chemical compounds to produce potable water, or we can use an inverter pump to put it back into your systems – pressure boosted – for washing, flushing or irrigating.

Pressure Boost

From the initial wash process in the pack house, along every step of the way you need our pressure boosting systems to guarantee effective cleaning.

High pressure jet-guns can remove your produce from the back of farm vehicles into reception tanks. Along the intake rollers through to the later stages of washing, our pressure boosted spray equipment will effectively and accurately rinse and wash produce. Control centres allow adjustment of pressure ratios and jet stream flow and direction, so you can minimise damage to your produce and maximise your efficiency.

Water Treatment Plants

For cleaning ‘dirty’ water we have a range of water treatment plants. For bore-water, our double tank systems filter sediment and aerate the water before chemical compounds are introduced to lock any harmful minerals and iron nitrates into removable resin. Ultra violet filters remove harmful bacteria.

Our cyclone machines filter off grit during the washing via a settlement process and the resulting debris is pumped away. We take the water back into the system for treating and reusing.

In our chilled hydro-cooler tanks ice cold water is dropped through the produce bringing their temperature down to 1 or 2 degrees before they are ready to be bagged and packed.

Panks Products

Panks’ specialist machines and equipment can safely spray, transport, cool, chill, sanitise and sterilise your produce and recycle waste water, keeping your costs down.

Panks Goals

As we are constantly innovating and looking to improve, we work in partnership with the manufacturers from the initial design stage to setting up product trials, to check our systems are fit for purpose whilst striving to keep costs affordable.

If you are looking to improve your productivity and profit in the long-term, let us find you ways to make efficiency gains and recommend systems to invest in, or upgrades to your existing machinery.

Panks Aftercare

As part of our aftercare package we will regularly monitor your applications and feedback data to your maintenance systems. Or we can maintain, service and repair machinery for you.

And if something does go wrong, our dedicated in-house maintenance and repair staff are always on hand. Panks’ expert engineers have the technical knowledge and experience to keep your systems working smoothly whilst you concentrate on your business.

However big or small your operation we want to be involved. From small scale pumps to the whole system installation, just call Panks.
