Water Treatment
Water Treatment Options
At Panks we offer a range of water treatment options for a variety of purposes, customers and locations across the eastern region. Rest assured our engineers will work directly with you to establish your needs and will recommend the water treatment best suited to your requirements.
Treatment for Drinking Water
Treat yourself to a better quality of drinking water. Maybe you are choosing to adopt a purer potable water supply and avoid the chlorine and chemicals associated with mains water? Or perhaps you just want greater freedom to use water how you choose, whenever you choose, without the concern of rising costs or hosepipe bans?
If so, a groundwater abstraction system and water treatment plant from Panks will provide you with the solution. Our detailed hydro-geological maps of East Anglia enable us to find the best spot to drill a borehole and access an aquifer up to 90metres below your property – providing you with a free source of water up to a maximum of 20,000 litres a day, or 20m3.*
Our experts perform an initial test to judge water quality and mineral content. In a water treatment plant the groundwater is then filtered and passed through an ionic exchange resin chamber – where a media bed simply removes minerals and nitrates such as iron, lead or manganese. The water is then passed through a second chamber for sterilisation, over UV lamps, destroying any bacteria. At this part of the process, you may choose to chlorinate rather than UV sterilise.
A water sample is sent to a specialist laboratory to get it approved as drinking water. We connect the supply direct to your taps – and you enjoy fresh and free water.
The Local Authority and your Water
Once your drinking water supply has been initially approved, your local authority takes on the responsibility of regular testing to ensure it continues to meet the necessary standards.
An annual service contract with us, with periodic replacement of UV lamps and the media resin, means all aspects of your treatment plant continue to work efficiently for you.
Water Treatment for Disposal of Waste Water
If your site is not linked to a main sewer, we can install the entire treatment plant and pipework for disposal of your wastewater and effluents.
In an underground storage chamber bacteria is added and oxygen drawn in via a pump. The bacteria breaks down the waste material and the remaining liquid waste can be drawn off into a secondary chamber and pumped safely away to a soak away, ditch or drain.
No matter what your type of building, or the number of people using its facilities, Panks can advise, size, specify, supply and install the most suitable solution for your requirements with one of our packaged pumping stations.
Water Treatment for Safety
Let UV sterilisation in a Panks’ water treatment plant take away the worry of water-born bacterial infections in public places. For hospitals, campsites, care homes, parks and leisure facilities UV sterilisation can provide a chemical-free alternative to chlorination and keep fountains, ponds, pools, play equipment or water features bacteria-free and family friendly.
Water Treatment for Aesthetics
If you have a pond or water feature that is green and murky and more of an eyesore than an attraction, let us install a water treatment plant with UV sterilisation to get rid of bacteria and algae and provide you with perfect clarity once again.
For a Softer Alternative
Mains water in Norfolk and Suffolk is notoriously hard. If you are fed up with lime-scale clogging up your household appliances or watering systems let Panks recommend and install a water softening system for you.
Water Treatment in the Leisure Industry
For holiday parks and campsites, leisure centres and hoteliers the naturally hard water in Norfolk and Suffolk can cause you a problem, scaling up pipework and equipment such as pumps and shower heads. Panks can solve this issue with the installation of water softeners linked to the mains supply, but separate to your drinking water supply.
For long-term energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness, why not consider groundwater abstraction? Borewater is naturally much softer and better still, it is free up to 20,000 litres per day*. Combined with one of Panks’ water treatment plants, groundwater could supply your entire enterprise or site with water for drinking, washing, flushing or swimming in!
Panks’ engineers can specify and install the entire groundwater abstraction package for your needs.
Water Treatment in Agriculture
Our water treatment plants will deal with all your water treatment issues.
Whether you have chosen groundwater, or rainwater harvesting, for wash-down, irrigation or animal drinking water supply, a water treatment plant will filter, remove any excess minerals and if you require, remove any bacteria to produce a pure potable source of free water, up to 20m3* per day.
As for grey waste water, why not channel this effluent through a Panks’ water treatment plant and back into your irrigation systems – saving you resources and money in the process.
For dirty or black waste water, our packaged pumping stations take care of it all. A double chambered system using bacterial decomposition drains the resultant liquid waste into a soakaway or ditch and leaves you with a safe waste product which can be used for fertilising crops.
Water Treatment in Horticulture
You know that plants respond better to softer or purer free water, so why not choose to give them what they need? With installation of a Panks’ rainwater harvesting system or borehole working in conjunction with a water treatment plant, or a water softener linked to your mains supply, you can give them a softer, purer alternative and watch them flourish.
Water Treatment in Construction
Panks have many years’ experience of working in the construction industry across Norfolk and Suffolk. We can work closely with your contractors to supply and install the ideal water treatment plants for the project. We assess in line with current Building Regulations and recommend the best products for the job
Treating Domestic Water
Many homeowners are choosing to install their own private water supply, to beat rising water costs or simply to guarantee a purer, chemical free alternative to mains water. With a water treatment plant connected to either borewater or stored rainwater, you can remove any bacteria or excess minerals and produce a clean chemical free source of drinking water for the home.
If this seems a step too far, consider filtration of groundwater or rainwater for use as non-potable water around the home; flushing, washing, watering the garden.
Or simply let us install a water softener onto your mains water to protect your appliances and pipework from lime-scale build up.
Water Treatment in the Food Industry
You wouldn’t flush money down the drain, so why not consider using treated wash water, harvested rainwater or groundwater in conjunction with one of our water treatment plants? Through filtration, ionic exchange and, if required, either UV sterilisation or chlorination, we can provide you with a safe potable water from any of these free sources. You know it makes sense – let one of our engineers talk to you about options for your site.
